Spiaggia libera accessibile a Sant'Agnello

The free Caterina beach, one of the most evocative of the Sant’Agnello coast, finally becomes accessible to people with disabilities thanks to an innovative project that focuses on inclusion and barrier-free seaside tourism.

The Municipality of Sant’Agnello, together with the Azienda Speciale Consortile Penisola Sorrentina, has inaugurated new equipment designed to guarantee residents and tourists with mobility difficulties the possibility of experiencing the sea in complete safety and autonomy.

Equipment for "barrier-free sea": Free beach accessible in Sant'Agnello

The free beach in Sant’Agnello has been equipped with:

  • Walkway on the sand, which directly connects the road to the shoreline;

  • JOB chairs, designed to allow entry into the water in total safety;

  • Special sunbeds, to experience moments of relaxation and sun in optimal conditions.

These tools, available free of charge, transform Spiaggia di Caterina into a model of inclusive seaside tourism on the Sorrento Peninsula.

An inclusion and awareness project

The initiative is part of the regional program “Estate Insuperabile“, part of the accessible tourism plan in Campania.

«Inclusivity is not just a civic duty, but a value to be actively promoted. Making our free beach accessible means allowing everyone to experience the beauty of the sea, without distinction” – declared Mayor Antonino Coppola and Deputy Mayor Maria Russo.

A concrete step to make Sant’Agnello a territory without architectural barriers, capable of welcoming travelers and families with different needs.

Sant’Agnello increasingly inclusive

With this project, Caterina Beach becomes not only a place of relaxation and nature, but also a symbol of social inclusion. A model to follow to build a tourist resort capable of combining beauty, accessibility and respect for everyone’s rights.
